NICOLE RICHIE has repeatedly denied accusations that she has an eating disorder, despite the significant drop in weight over the past couple of years. Last week, she announced that she was seeking treatment for her weight issues.

Like any father, LIONEL RICHIE says he's concerned about his daughter's health. According to People magazine, it was Lionel who urged Nicole to seek help.

"She's gonna be fine," he tells People. "She's worrying me to death, but she's gonna be okay."

As for Nicole, she made her own statement earlier this week, speaking out for the first time since seeking help with her weight loss.

"I'm not in rehab and I don't have an eating disorder," she says in the new Us Weekly. "I'm getting the help I need and taking care of my health."

According to the magazine -- which hits stands today -- Nicole hit a turning point when she attended her grandmother's funeral in late October. Her relatives were reportedly shocked to see how thin she'd gotten in recent months. That's when her father stepped in and Nicole sought treatment. Us Weekly says that they talked about it as a family and decided she needed to get checked out.

The magazine reports that the five-foot-one star has gained six pounds in the past six weeks, climbing from an estimated 87 pounds this summer.

Acording to her publicist, Nicole "is working with a team of doctors and specialists whose focus is nutrition," and that she "has decided to undergo diagnostic treatment to determine why she's not been putting on any weight. It is important to Nicole that she achieves this goal in a healthy way as this is not a treatment for an eating disorder."

glad to hear that she is gaining weight but 87 lbs. OMG!!!! thankfully her father is supporting her. she is in denial and desperately needs help ASAP.
