Has anyone ever driven to Disney??
I desperately want to go again this summer....I can't stop thinking about it (we took our HM there)
DH really doesn't like flying and would drive....
Has anyone ever driven? How was it???

I have... I went to college in Fla, so i drove down once, then a few years later once I graduated we drove back... the first time we drove straight through... 19 hours i think... it was boring and DH got mad at me because i kept falling asleep during the car ride instead of talking to him and keeping me company...
on the way back we stopped in VA at his college... i think that way was better... we took our time... and the ride was less stressful because we werent as tired and he got to drive the whole way. Personally, i would rather fly... i hate long car trips! But if you dont mind them, then why not...

I drove 2 times.
First time was with my best friend. Second was with my DH when were dating. We had a blast. Made some cd's with all drifferent music and enjoyed the drive and the ride. Its long.
When I went with my friend we stopped in GA. going and coming back I drove straight while she slept  I have to say that was very tiring!
When Mike and I went we stopped both times. We went to disney and then continued on to South Florida where are families are. I am trying to talk him into it again so we can bring the dog

I have never driven there, but I recommend getting Sirius Satellite radio for your trip! It makes a WORLD of difference.
And, if you call AAA, they will map out a complete itinerary for your trip (complete with hotels along the way to stay at). My Mom did this when she drove to Wisconsin to visit my brother and she said it was great!
Good luck and I hope DH agrees

When I was a kid my family would drive down all the time. My dad was used to being up late cause he worked nights. So we would drive straight through, make some stops, and be there in 24 hours. WE drove down a few years ago on a girls trip. It was fun. We made mixed CD's and enjoyed the drive together. IT took about 24 hours. I would do it again, but the drive home is torture.

there was a post about the auto train a few days ago...that goes to disney from VA. I've take that once as well as the train from NY to Disney twice. They really aren't that bad if you have family that just doesnt like to fly...I havent driven, but I'm sure that isnt too bad either. it will be worth it to get to go to disney I know how you feel, I love Disney too, I'm itching to get DH to go back

My parents did it when I was a kid. It honestly wasn't that bad. We drove straight till we got to S. Carolina..then we slept. It's not that bad of a trip

Thanks ....Dh has Sirius already...I think we would rent a car too.
Honestly I am warming up to this idea...flying scares me too

We would drive down all the time when I was younger and stop and take breaks. I sont remember it being that bad. I drove down a few years ago with my sister and 3 friends. They all say theyd never do it again. I would. As long as you stop and take breaks and alternate drivers, it shouldnt be that bad.

I did it in college. We drove straight through, both there and back. In one direction it was 24 hours, in the other 22 hours (due to traffic). I would never do it straight through again, I would stop somewhere halfway and spend the night. We had 4 people sharing the driving, so we could sleep in the car, but I found it to be a rough trip when I was 21, there is no way I could do it as I approach 40.
