need some advice

recently started seeing a RE. unexplained infertility,i'm 25, been trying 14 months now. did one clomid cycle, i ended up ovulating before the cd 10 sono. this month, went for cd 3 sono.sono was done by a PA, didn't see the doc. nurse called in the afternoon, said i need to come back due repeat sono/bloods cd 5 before starting clomid. went in today, sono again done by PA. said I have two big follicles 13 and 14 mm at day 5, does this make sense? and I may not be able to do clomid this month. waiting for call back now.
also, RE had mentioned giving me something else with the clomid to delay ovulation, when i asked about it today, they said they don't know and i will have to call in the morning.
my question is, firstly, is it normal to have follcicles that size at day 5? main question - should I be looking into switching? is this how things are done? i'm a bit disturbed that didn't see doc for sono

adding: I got the ok to start clomid again, nurse called said blood work was fine. but i'm still a little annoyed. and wondering what's up with the follicles she saw already

Re: need some advice

Well the Sono's depend on the clinic.

The first one I went to only Sono techs did them. The second clinic I went to, only the Dr's did them.

I was happy I chaged b/c of that.

I started at RSONY and moved to NSUH Center for Human Reproduction and had much more of a one on one relationship with my Dr.

I do think your situation sounds like somethings off ...you are Ovulating too soon....follies growing too big too soon.

I dont know much about it though to give advice, but I would seek a Dr's advice about it, there must be a reason?

good luck to you!!!

Re: need some advice

that's what I thought - it's like I responded too fast the first cycle, and now I don't know what's up. i'm wondering if I may be better off with injectibles, where I guess they can control this better.

Re: need some advice

It sounds to me like you are ovulating too soon. The follies they saw this time may have been cysts, but you should have gotten more info before they started you on clomid again. The whole thing is a little off, I would definitely request a consultation with your Dr. to get some real info.

Re: need some advice

i went to li-ivf and most sonos and monitoring were down by the nurse practioner or physcian's assistant. they and the nurses were pretty thorough in explaining everything, but if i had further questions i was definitely able to speak to a doctor.

i'm sorry i don't know anything about the clomid, but i would def. ask to speak with your doctor.

good luck to you!!

Re: need some advice

if you already have two follies that size WHY ON EARTH WOULD THEY HAVE YOU TAKE CLOMID?? Clomid is to make you ovulate- you are. I would not take it and insist on seeing the MD, the fact that you have TWO that size on CD5 is ridiculous and like someone else said I wouldnt be surprised if they are cysts and then you should not take clomid.

I would insist on speaking with the MD. And I would consider switching clinics.

ok, so I will call in the morning. now for a really ignorant question - what do I do, just tell receptionist that I was in for a sono and have a couple of questions for the doctor, can he call me back? sorry, jsut never had the occasion to do this before

YES...exactly that....If they say a nurse will call you back, say...I already spoke with a nurse, I would feel more comfortable speaking directly to the Dr.

Re: need some advice

I had a feeling they were cysts...Clomid can do that. I feel much better for you, when you go back on CD10 the cysts may have grown so be prepared - it had happened to me a couple of times.
