Re: Paris in Winter

Its cold, but quite mild. Not nearly as cold as NY would be. The weather today in Paris was clear and sunny, high of 57, I know in the UK we have a much mild winter than in the states...and its still in the 60's here, so I would say go! Bring your thermals, but its probably lovely! If you fancy going before Christmas, there are wonderful Christmas markets all over Europe!

I went for a President's Day weekend a few years ago. It was milder than NY, decent for walking.

I was there in February and the weather was cold but we also had 1 beautiful day. The weather is similar to NY.

I went to Paris this past February. While it was an enjoyable trip overall, I would definitely suggest going a different time of year, if possible. I went then because DH had a business trip there. It was REALLY cold - probably the same as NY but that's COLD.

Re: Paris in Winter

ny dad goes every year on Christmas Day though New Years Day--- he loves it. I think it is slightly more mild than it is in NY. I was in London last March, which is similar weather to Paris and it was totally comfortable-- cold, but not horrible.

Re: Paris in Winter

We went in February and it was cold, not unbearable though. If you expect it and prepare for it, it's fine. We both invested in really warm coats and boots and just soldiered through it and had a fantastic time. I'm sure we would have loved Paris even more in Spring, but that wasn't an option at the time so we worked it out. And we even got to see snow falling in Paris which was cool! Oh and alot of the cafes have those outdoor heaters so you can still sit and enjoy the people watching.

I also went in April and September. September was beautiful, April was still a bit chilly.

Re: Paris in Winter

I went last year in January and it was freezing! We had to constantly go into stores to warm up. That was last year though, I'm sure some years it's colder than others. If you get the opportunity to go I would anyway, it was beautiful! And, the crepes were amazing Chat Icon

When I was there, I went in early December and it was cold, we had gloves on at night. During the day wasn't bad if the sun. The day I was at the Eiffel Tower it was misty and overcast, we couldn't see anything from the top Chat Icon

My aunt & cousin went in Feb a few yrs ago and LOOOOOOOVED IT!! they said that eating out was SO reasonable and everywhere they went was empty (no tourists). they did so much sight seeing and shopping in 5 days. they got a flight + hotel package for a ridiculously low price. they said that it was cold, but not more so than NY and that they would do it agian in a heartbeat.

I would LOVE to do that!

Re: Paris in Winter

I just got back from Paris a few hours ago... I know it's not winter though Chat Icon But the first time I was there was the end of February many years ago, it was chilly, not cold. It's alot milder there than it is here. I got away with just my leather jacket (without the lining). My friend and I did a side trip from London to Paris for a day, but because it's off season, we got amazing deal to London for 5 nights/6 days and the cost of a train ticket to Paris.
