Just found out I'm Pregnant!
Hi everyone! So Thursday night I took a HPT and got a BFP! The thing is is that we weren't TTC. So, it was a real shock! I made an appointment with the OB for next Tuesday, the 28th. They couldn't take me sooner because of Thanksgiving. Although, I have a few questions -
1. What can I expect for my first visit?
2. Do they draw blood at your first visit to confirm pregnancy?
3. Will they do a sono?
4. Did you bring DH with you?
5. How do you determine how far along are you before going to see the OB? I think I might be 8 weeks, but I'm not sure how to tell.
I'm so clueless to everything - TIA!

First off, congrats! 
Do you have any idea how far along you'll be by your first visit? If it's just to confirm the pregnancy, I don't think much happens besides a blood test and "see ya in a few weeks" (when you're between 7 and 9 weeks usually).
Oh - I just reread - you determine how far along you are by counting from the first day of your last period. If you're 8+ weeks by the appt, I'd bring DH. They'll take blood and do an exam and most likely a sonogram (you should be able to see/hear the baby's heartbeat!).

Congrats & welcome!
To help you out as much as I can;
1. They may not schedule your first visit until you are about 7-8 weeks. This is normal, don't be surprised - and yes, it feels like forever to wait for
2. In your first appointment, they will mostly likey take blood and do a urine sample. My doc reviewed my family history to check for anything he may have to be concerned with.
3. They may do a sono at that first appointment. I think a lot of girls on here get different things from different doctors. For me, I got a sono all the time. Some doc's don't do them as much.
4. I always tried to bring DH with me to every appointment. I felt that it was just as important for him to be there as for me. He still tries to go to all my appointments to this day and I think he appreciates my pregnancy a bunch more.
5. I am no good at measuring time. Try some websites online where you can enter your last menstrual period (LMP). It will calculate it for you.

My 1st visit I gave urine, no blood. They did an internal sono to check out the baby.... I was 7 wks and a few days....

Thanks everyone for your help! I'm estimating that I am about 7 weeks now, so I will be about 8 weeks at my first appointment. So, I will bring DH just incase they do a sono I want him to be there and I think he would want to too. Thanks again!

Same here. My dr. also gave me a script to get blood work done at the lab and my script for the prenatal vitamins.

FYI - we weren't TTC either, so it came as a huge shock to us as well!!!
