another ovulation ques.
I'm a bit confused... my cycles are between 27 to 28 days. I know that everyone says you can ovulate at any time (I think?) but if that's true, say I ov. cycle day 22 for example, wouldn't that mean I have a short luteal phase and isn't that a problem? I just figured if I get AF on day 28 that must mean I ov. around day 14 which I did this month according to an OPK. I guess my ques is, can someone have a 28 day cycle and ov. well past the 14 day mark?

You can have a 28 day cycle and ovulate later than 14 days. A short LP is a problem, if it is shorter than 10 days. It is something to mention to a doctor if you notice it keeps happening.

Re: another ovulation ques.
the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle starts with AF and goes through until ovulation. this part of the cycle can have varying lengths, and can be affected by environmental factors like stress, travel, etc. the luteal phase is from the day after ovulation to the next menstruation, and the length of this phase is much more consistent, varying only by a day or so in any given woman.
so... if you found out this month that you Od on day 14 of a 28 day cycle, then your LP is generally 14 days. if for some reason you ovulated on day 22 in one cycle, you would still have your 14 day LP, and your total cycle length would just be longer.
like christy said, if your luteal phase is consistently fewer than 10 days, it may impair fertility - doesn't sound like that's the case for you, though.
hope this makes sense

Re: another ovulation ques.
A 27-28 day cycle is pretty good. More on the normal side and probably indicates you Ovulate near or on day 14.
Use an OPK and check....
If you ovulate later, day 22 like you said, you would have a longer cycle.
Once you ovulate the LP is the time it takes yoru body to get ready for the next cycle...some people can have very short ones, but short is usually 10 days, not 5 or 6....
So I think your good to go

Re: another ovulation ques.
My normal cycles are 28 days. The month I got pregnant, I ovulated on day 21, completely unheard of for me. I thought for sure I was not going ot ovulate that month, and I was freaking out. Turns out, that was the month it worked. Go figure!
Good luck with everything!!!!!!!!!
