PSA - PLEASE, PLEASE get all lumps checked and have biopsies performed....

I know most of you read about Katie going through cancer treatments...

We adopted Katie in July from a girl who could no longer keep her. We were informed that she had had a 'fatty tumor' removed from above her eye. We thought nothing of it.

Fast forward to mid-october. We notice the tumor is growing back, so we bring Katie to the vet, where they schedule a biopsy.

When the test results came back, it was discovered that she had stage 3 cancer, and that it was really far along. We're trying to get in touch with katie's previous owner to find out if a biopsy was performed on the last tumor, but we're under the impression that it was not.

Please! If your dog or cat has a tumor, insist that they do a biopsy. The sooner treatment starts, the better.

At this point, the cancer has spread to her lymphnodes and is so far progressed that we may not be able to do anything else if the CCNU doesn't shrink it.

I am so greatful for the last four months with Katie, she's the most amazing dog, but if I wish I could have known sooner. It's tearing me apart that she could have had a better prognosis had we known sooner.

Please keep an eye on your dogs. Especially 'squishy faced' dogs like boston's, boxers and pugs where mast cell tumors are more prevalent.

Aw love, I'm so very sorry!!

But yes, this is so true. The same goes for flat faced cats.

I have both, a Boston and a Himalayan.

Brooklyn had a tiny lump on his neck...we took him to the vet immediately, thankfully, it's just his muscle. But yes, don't delay. This is so important.

I'm here if you want to talk Deb. You should be very proud of the amazing life you've given your princess...when she most needed it!!
