Would this be weird to you-Name Related
DH and I are having a hard time with a girl's name. Everytime we decide on one, we get anxious about it.
So, DH said the other night that he really loves the name Courtney. Now, I like that name too. BUT it was his ex girlfriend's name (his only other serious relationship besides me). Now I know my DH loves me and he isn't "naming the baby after his ex"
I mentioned it to my SMIL and my little SILs on Thanksgiving and my SILs started screaming at my DH that they weren't going to let the baby be named after that b!tch (hehe).
But it would be too weird, right?

I wouldn't do it.
I like one boy's name but haven't brought it up because it happens to be the name of a guy he knows I dated.

honestly, i wouldn't feel comfortable whether it was my ex or his, one of the names liked was mark for a boy, but it was an ex's name and i personally just wouldnt feel right, plus their are other names i like better anyway, good luck though!

If it was me, no. If he only went on one or two dates with her then that would be one thing but the only serious relationship besides you... I, personally, couldn't live with it. If you can, but you have to be 100% sure then ok.
No offense to any Stefanies out there but that is my DH's ex-wife's name. It's horrible to say but everytime I hear the name, even when it's referring to someone else, I associate it with the crazy ex and everything she did.
My favorite boy name is Jack but that is out because DH had a very long time friend name with that name who he had a really bad falling out with. I dated for so long that there are very few male names that exist that don't belong to a guy I, at least once, went out on a date with  but no way were we entertaining any of the one's belonging to long term relationships. Actually, the one we will probably pick belongs to no one.

I agree with everyone else...I wouldn't use it. I've eliminated several boy names for the same reason and pretty much names of other relatives as well. I don't particularly want anyone to think the child was named after them when it might be total coincidence [that has eliminated some names we actually AGREED on].

Just food for thought.....I dated (for a while) a guy with the same name as my DH. If we have a boy, our son will be named after my DH.
Maybe that is why I feel like I can't really nix a name because it is one of an ex?

While I probably wouldn't feel comfortable, if both of you are then I say go for it.
I wasn't crazy about my son's name (DH's choice). But it became his name & then signified him - not the jerk I knew in High School.
