I see no progress......

So, my boys were doing GREAT sleeping longer through the night, but ehe past week, I feel like we are back to square 1 again, like they just came home.
I increased the ozs. and still no progress. I read that sleeping longer at night is just a developmental milestone.

I tried the rice cereal for Christopher and it seems to help with spitting up, excepet I mad ethe mistake of giving him more because he was crying and took more of the bottle, and he threw up the WHOLE bottle.

I picked upa a can of Enfamil AR, because it is thicker and scared to switch and try it and see if that works.
Im sorry to vent, I just see everyone else making great progress and I go back in 2 weeks and cant seem to eliminate that 1-3 feeding.
What am I doing wrong.
Maybe Im just pushing it, my boys are only 9 weeks

Don't feel bad, mine are also 13 months and get up quite often in the middle of the night.
How long are they sleeping for?

3...sometimes 4 hours.
It used to be 5-6 hours.

Re: I see no progress......

Is Christopher your son w/ acid reflux? Maybe you can keep sitting upright in a swing/bouncer/carseat throughout the night.
I had a friend who had a son with acid reflux and he could not get comfortable lying flat, and her pediatrician recommended this.

This might be waking him up. Chat Icon

Diane, don't worry! My boys vary with their sleep amounts also. Because of our reflux issue, the doctor told me to always keep them at about a 30 degree angle following meals... and not in the car seat b/c that puts them in an awkward angle. This tidbit seems to have worked so far for us. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I know what you mean, we'll have a great night of sleep with both of them, and then the next night, they are back to every 4 hours. I am sure it WILL happen soon. Hang in there. Chat Icon

Diane...

I switched both boys over to Enfamil AR (even though neither was diagnosed with acid reflux). Kevin spit up a lot and that seemed to help them. Once they switched over to that they slept more i noticed. Also at the 9 week mark my pediatrician told me to skip the night feeding (the 1-2 AM one) so with that I went home and let them cry it out. It took awhile but it seems to be working. Now they go to bed around 12 and wake at 6AM to feed. It was hard to listen to them cry and it never got to the point where they were choking while crying, but it took awhile. I would pick them up, try and see if they needed to burp, but they usually just would stop when i picked htem up and i knew they were just doing it because they wanted that...so that is why it was easier to let them cry it out. Now my husband (who was totally against this) does it too......hope that helps.

I want to do this, but Chrsitopher is not gaining too much weight, so he still needs to be fed and gain more weight.
Matthew can probably skip the feeding.
I will give it till 3 months and see what they weigh then.
I was just told that they will learn to do it on theri own.
I know when my MIL watches them overnight at some time in the future she WILL NOT let them cry it outChat Icon

Re: I see no progress......

I had both my girls on Enfamil AR and they did really well. Everything will change once you hit the 3 month mark. I have a bunch of cans left not sure where you live but you are welcome to them. I remember with Syd she would scream and cry and it ended up that i was feeding her to much so try and space it to at least 3 hours so your little boy has time to digest. hope everything gets better for you soon.
