what to eat while pg?
Ok so i am going food shopping and i want to start eating healthy. I know i should eat lots of fruits and veggies but what about dairy such as yogurt should i get low fat or regular? i know i shouldnt be having any sugar substitutes right which is what is in a lot of these fat free and low fat prdoducts no?
What about cheeses? What cheeses are not to be eaten while pg?Can i have Mozzarella and chedder thats really the only cheeses i like? Again shoud i get whole milk or part skim?
Anyting else i should know about what to eat during pregnancy?

How about adding chocolate and ice cream to your list LOL!!!!
I don't eat anything fat free/low fat just b/c I feel like the ingredients are "fake". I just *try* to eat healthy and watch my portions. I just went back to the gym to do some walking and light weights. I'm hoping to join a few pre-natal yoga classes when they offer up a better time for me.
However, I find that with this pregnancy all I want is SWEETS. I am not really a sweets person so for me its odd. I honestly could live on cake, cookies and treats but I'm really trying to keep it all to a minimum.

Dr told me only soft unpastuerized cheeses are a no no. I would get the part skim, but that's just me, unless you are carrying multiples you only really need an extra 300 calories a day.
Artificial sweetners i was told were okay, but everything in moderation. Splenda and nutrasweet my dr said were okay too.

I say eat healthy but enjoy it. There's no need to go overboard but it's the one time you don't have to diet so don't!

Eat what ever you want to eat as long as it stays down. I couldn't eat for the first 3 months...food was too disgusting. I'm only getting an appetite now!

Re: what to eat while pg?
I eat a lot of salads with regular dressings. I make a lot of homemade chicken salad and egg salad as well. I try to eat regular eggs for breakfast too once a week. I eat all types of cheese, but make sure they are packaged and not from the deli counter sliced. Yogurt is great, that is one of my favorite snacks. I do buy the low fat, but NOT LIGHT. When it says LIGTH, it means there are artificail sweetners in it. I drink 2 % milk in my cereal and just by the glass. I avoid all soda that has caffine in it. Occasionally I will drink root bear or orange soda r/t a craving. I haven't and do not eat Deli Meats- my doctor said to much bacteria on the slicing machines. I also do not eat any canned Tuna r/t the Mercury levels. Basically just shop to make health meals that don't have any artifical stuff in it and watch for caffine.
