Pamela's Cut Out Sugar Cookies (photos on website) From: www.halfmysize.com Servings - 40 Points - 1
Ingredients: 6 Tablespoons shortening 3/4 cup sugar 2 Tablespoons milk 1 large egg 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 cups flour 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
Directions: Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg, milk and vanilla. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together and add to other ingredients. Mix well. Roll dough out thin and cut with cookie cutter. If dough is not stiff enough add a little more flour. Chilling dough makes it easier to handle. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.

Make a royal icing with 2 cups powdered sugar, 2 tsp. Wilton meringue powder, and 2 Tbsp. water. I like the meringue powder because it's safer than raw egg whites. You beat it with the water and it will whip up like egg whites. Then just gradually add the powdered sugar until you get the consistency that you want. You can also tint it with the Wilton paste concentrates. For most cookies, you use so little of the icing that it really doesn't add any additional points.
