Do staffing agancies really help?
Hi, i am miserable at my job and not making very good money, since my Dh and i are trying to buy a home i really need a larger salary, so a staffing agency who saw my resume called me and asked me to come in, do these agencies really help you? Thanks

I was placed by Ajilon in Hauppauge, and the staff there is great. I have used them several times.

Wlel, they are paid by the employers, so they have their best interests in mind, but my company just used one & it worked very well.
They sent us about 4 people & they all were very good candidates & we hired the one with the most similiar experience.
I would think it is worth a shot, b/c they don't want to wast the employers time, so they probably (if they are reputable) will only sned you to things you may be a match for.

I was a technical recruiter for 7 years and I placed numerous people. Yes, we did speak to people and sometimes we did not call back, you don't realize the amount of resumes I would receive, I really only called back qualified candidates that I felt I could place in a reasonable amount of time.
Other peoples resumes went into a database and I would call if something came up.

I got a lot of interviews through different staffing agencies.
The only thing is if you don't do well on the first interview, they will want nothing to do with you after that.
And if you do well, they don't leave you alone.

I haven't had a good experience w/ them either. Usually they just waste my time with a lot of efficiency tests, which I usually score well on, and then they never send me to jobs I want (like crazy locations, not the job description I am looking for, or temp jobs)
