So, quick question...UPDATE

Those ppl that get pg with IUI, approximately how many, on average, do you think it takes?

TY in advace Chat Icon

UPDATE: So I spoke to my RE yesterday. I did one failed IUI cycle with Clomid. He wants me to try another cycle with Clomid, so I said I would, but insisted on doing injectables in January. I'm not wasting any more time!!

Now I just need to make sure that my insurance company covers injectables with IUI. He's using Gonal-F. Anyone have trouble with this or use it with success? Anyone have trouble getting there injectables covered with IUI?

Sorry for so many questions!

Re: So, quick question...

I got PG on IUI #5. The first 3 rounds were just with chlomid. The next 2 rounds were with injectables.

Did you use injectables or Clomid?

So I guess you would recommend injectables?? And I guess no cysts, right??

Re: So, quick question...

I got pregnant on my 3rd IUI with 150mg of clomid. If that didn't work I was moving on to injectibles

I know, and I'm so sorry. Chat Icon

You went right to injectables? How come you didn't do Clomid first?

Was it difficult to do the injectables? My doctor seems to want to have a conversation before I start it. He's making me do another cycle of Clomid this month (AF today) so that when I see him again for mid-cycle analysis we can discuss how to do the injections and start an injection cycle next cycle.

The first time I did the injection I was a nervous wreck, but the end of week one, I was completely comfortable with it.

Your RE will defintely show you how to do the injections.

Good Luck!!Chat Icon

Personally...yes, I would recommend injectables. I felt like the 3 rounds of chlomid I did were a waste.

ETA: The first time I had to give myself an injection, I was sooo nervous...but unfortunately, you get very used to it quickly and it's pretty painless! Good luck Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Just so you know, it's different for everyone. I would get cysts using injectibles and they went away on their own except for one cycle where they were painful and they had to discontinue the cycle.

Unfortunately our insurance didnt cover injectables. The pharmacy that the hospital recommended cost us about $2,000-$2,500 a cycle. I didnt take Gonal, I was on Follistim.
