*Updated* I have my first RE consultation tomorrow...
What should I expect? What are some good questions I should ask?
TIA
12/15/06 I had the appointment yesterday and I think it went very well. I was nervous seeing a male dr (always had a female ob/gyn) but he was really nice and approachable and spent a considerable amount of time with DH and me answering our questions and going over all of the tests he wanted to do. BTW - we live in FL now and, not to offend anyone here, but I still have the mindset that NY Dr's are the best so I always expect the worst when I go to a Dr. down here. I'm a LI snob!
He did a culture (thanks melijane) and recommended the following tests (in this order since I am on CD8): SA LH tracking Post Coital test 1 day after LH surge Serum Progesterone 8 days after LH surge CD2 or 3 FSH & E2, plus T4, TSH, and FBG Preconception testing for infections or genetic problems - I am happy about this. When I told my ob/gyn we were TTC she just said good luck, call me when you're pregnant - no prenatal vitamins or testing at all! HSG dye test
If necessary, he will do the endometrial biopsy, but wants to leave that to last since it's the most invasive.
He didn't have an explanation for the 6-8 days of brown spotting before my period, but didn't seem too worried about it. We'll have to re-address this later.
You were all right, I feel so much better that we are actually doing something about this, and that I wasn't dismissed as this being all in my head.
Does this plan sound good to everyone? Is there anything I am missing?

Re: I have my first RE consultation tomorrow...
Firstly, good luck
Have you had an HSG done? If not you should, also have you had any semen analysis done? You should also get CD3 blood test done. I think as long as the RE does full testing on you & your partner to start with they will know what they are dealing with, how can they know what is wrong if they don't test? You could also ask about their success rates and what the standard protocal is as well as the testing etc.
Can't think of anything else, feeling a bit fluffy. I am sure some of the other girls will have some good ideas.
Anyway good luck and let us know how you get on

Re: I have my first RE consultation tomorrow...
I had my first appointment on Monday. He went through all my records and test results. Then we just talked about what's been going on and options.
I had a trans-vaginal sonogram and got paperwork for the CD3 test.
Good luck!!

I think Cat covered it well. FRom what I here from this board the result of an HSG test really makes a difference in regards to treatnet options.
The re's offoce will be asking you a TON of questions too.
Good luck, I think you will be waling out of there feeling good. It was really empowering to know you ARE going to get somewhere!

Re: I have my first RE consultation tomorrow...
Make sure you bring your medical records from your previous doctor, they will help the RE with your diagnosis. Also, make sure to tell him about the early bleeding and that you were put on antibiotics. Lot's of luck to you and hope your journey is very short

Re: *Updated* I have my first RE consultation tomorrow...
Glad to see your appointment went well. It sounds like your Dr is being thorough.
"IF" you eventually do need an endometrial biopsy it really wasn't that bad so don't worry. I anticipated a LOt worse and it was not bad @ all.
I am glad you are on the road to getting answers.

Glad I could help! That seems like a great start. I would also say hsg(from someone thats gearing up to get it!) otherwise see what you get from that and keep educated. Read my post about interesting info on infertility posted yesterday. GL! Please keep us updated. Melissa
Oops saw you are already getting the hsg
