Can I tell you about a touching moment for DH this Christmas
My DH comes from a lower income family. They always had a home and food on the table, but they had a very humble life.
So Chritsmas in their home was never about big presents. You got one or two small gifts that you really appreciated it.
He is the oldest of the 3 boys and in a way helped to raise his two brothers (especially the younger one). His middle brother is the only one who finished college and the youngest is on his way. Well they both still live at home and right now have very nice paying jobs in finance, while DH works in a "blue collar" civil servant job making not great money but good benefits.
He has been talking for months about wanting to get a LCD HDTV and that he was waiting for our tax return, but as bills are piling up he has been saying he might have to wait until next year.
Well last night his brothers surprised him with a 32" flat screen HDTV.
DH was so shocked and touched that he was actually brought to tears. They told him they were grateful for all that he had done for them over the years and that he works hard, doing double shifts and such for the sake of his family. That they wanted to do this for him.
It was just soooo over-the-top nice of them. I am so touched and so proud I wanted to share. It reminded me of what Christmas is all about. They knew they would never get an "equal" gift in return and that didnt matter.

it really was amazing. And they are not the warm and fuzzy type. I mean they are good people, but the type who will give you a manly hug but cant utter the words "I love you".
The fact that they did this, kept it a suprise and even the way they gave it to him (they told him it was an exercise bike for MIL), was just so awesome. It brought such a smile to my face and DH to tears.

How wonderful of them! It goes to show what kind of family DH came from. It's beautiful that they were able to do this for your DH in appreciation of all he's done.

What a great post! I can't imagine how touching that was to have witnessed that. Sounds like he's done a great job of raising them!

That is wonderful! I have tears in my eyes- it was so touching. That is great that all the things he did for his family didn't go unnoticed & they were appreciated. What a great moment for your DH to hear that from them!
