Soothing themselves
I am stumped on how to get my lil girl to put herself to sleep. Is the putting the baby in her crib and letting her cry to sleep the best way?

Re: Soothing themselves
does she take a paci? have a stuffed animal or blanket? maybe a mobile or aquarium or something? My DD is not very good at self soothing either but in the past few months she back attached to a little blankie which has helped.

Re: Soothing themselves
I would put Ryan in and watch him on the monitor to see what he does for like 10-15 min. He'd fuss and squirm around, then I noticed he started banging his head on the mattress and woudl then fall right asleep. I asked the ped and she said he's soothing himself. She said "You'd probably rather he suck his thumb, but he does that instead" LOL. It is really funny to watch.
But yes, they need to figure it out for themselves, I'm not saying let them cry forever but give them a chance now and then alone in the crib to figure it out.
