Would You Dress Your Kids In Same Outfits?
Ok, so i had this debate with a sister who loves dressing her daughers in the same outfits 'cus she thinks its cute and unites them as a family.
Ironically my mother used to dress me and her in the same outfits and it bugged me 'cus I didn't find it cute at all.
I feel that you strip the children's individuality when you dress them in the same outfits....
What do you guys think?

Never. Maybe the same pattern, but not identical outfits. My mom used to do that to me and my sister for pictures.

Coordinated yes, identical no.
I've already spread the word about that because I was hoping not to get a million identical outfits for my twins.

Re: Would You Dress Your Kids In Same Outfits?
No, though my mom had my brothers in the same outfits for a couple of holidays.
I think it's cute when they're coordinated, but that's as far as it goes- my mom had my brother and I (before brother #2 was born) photographed in sailor outfits, and I love those photos.

Is your sister younger or older? I would think the younger sibling likes it (I did)
It was only holiday pictures and when we got older it was coordinating.

Re: Would You Dress Your Kids In Same Outfits?
My mom did it to us....I loathed it. It meant that when I outgrew a dress, I got the same stupid dress all over again. IF I had twins, I might dress them alike occasionally for a picture....but not daily.

Re: Would You Dress Your Kids In Same Outfits?
No -- nor will I dress baby to match mommy or daddy. DH just told me this today as a matter of fact (neighbor and son are wearing the same T-shirt) so I promised him -- I will NEVER make him wear the same outfit as our daughter!!

Re: Would You Dress Your Kids In Same Outfits?
I never really thought about it, but probably not. However, I don't see it as a big deal if a parent wants to do it every now and then.

Re: Would You Dress Your Kids In Same Outfits?
My sister and I are 15 months apart. My mom used to buy us the same clothes or in a different color (same patern). I hated it.
I will not do that to my children.

I don't think I would dress my kids the same - maybe if twins, but always a little difference between the two.

I'm the younger one. I can understand though how a younger sister might want to wear what older sister is wearing. Makes her feel she's just as grown-up or she's equal in some way to big sis.

Re: Would You Dress Your Kids In Same Outfits?
Yea I think I would if they were twins and they were little- once they were old enough to chose what they would want to wear- than it would end!

I've already spread the word about that because I was hoping not to get a million identical outfits for my twins.
I would never do it.
Sometimes I see parents doing it with different gendered, different aged kids, and I think it looks silly.
Also, when I buy gifts for identical twins, I always buy different outfits. Corrdinated, so they mix and match, but never identical.
My dad was an identical twin. My gma swore up and down she never dressed her boys the same, but we found soem pictures and home movies where she did - she was snagged.
My stepsisters also were dressed identically at times - they were different ages.
The younger sister still complains how she wore those outfits for years - because she wore her own, and then here sister's hand me downs!

I might for the first few pics--after that noway. I think it takes identity and makes them look like a novelty.

Re: Would You Dress Your Kids In Same Outfits?
I wouldn't, coordinating yes, but not identical. I have a friend who has twins and I bought them the same dress when they were little in different colors, that is the closest I would go, but only for twins.
