Progesterone shots
Starting them tonight and dreading it - any words of wisdom? also, does the progesterone need to be in the fridge?

Re: Progesterone shots
I always iced the area a bit before the shot. that helped a little. I don't think you need to refrigerate it, from what i remember. good luck.

Re: Progesterone shots
I put it in the fridge....my nurse told me to direct the injection to the side of the butt, as to not interfer with sitting down.
Good Luck!

Re: Progesterone shots
I always WARMED the progesterone shots.
I would put it in very warm water for about 3 minutes, while simultaneously warming my butt with a warm, wet towel.
It goes in easier then and doesn't leave as many lumps.
After I kept a warm compress on the area for about 5 minutes and walked around/rubbed the area to make sure it worked into the muscle.
The first one is the hardest. especially for DH!!
I mean, they are never FUN, but you get used to them.
Good luck!!

I never refridgerated it. in fact that would make it hurt more as it makes the oil thicker. I would always warm it up before injecting it, either rubbing it between my hands or sticking the needle in my bra. The warmer the oil the thinner it is an less it hurts. Also a heating pad on the area afterwards helps.
It is not nearly as bad as it looks.

Re: Progesterone shots
NEVER PUT PROGESTERONE IN OIL IN THE FRIDGE!!!
You know what happens when you put oil in the fridge...then you have to inject that!! No way!!

Re: Progesterone shots
Thanks ladies - I actually did it myself last night. Was so nervous about DH doing it for some reason! It wasn't as bad as I thought although I am very sore today. Thanks for your suggestions. I am going to try warming it a bit tonight...

Re: Progesterone shots
NO FRIDGE...Nor DO NOT ICE the area. I always put a wet towel in the microwave and heat it up, then put it oin the injection site for a few minutes, then inject, it doesnt hurt as much, plus DH said the oil went it fasther than when I iced it (he said it was hard to inject when it was cold) Good luck

Re: Progesterone shots
I always iced for about 10 mins while dh held the vile of progesterone in his hand to warm it close to body temp...and i never felt too much more than a pinch. Then i always immediately used a heating pad until i fell asleep...since i did mine at night before bed. I never knotted and i was never soar.
