Havanese increasing in popularity in NY
From a local club member...
Just happened to look at some of the cities where AKC lists specific
city-wide top 10 breeds - Havanese are #6 in New York - here's an
excerpt from the AKC news release:
"New Yorkers are trendy and it shows: The increasingly popular
Havanese shot up to the sixth spot in the Big Apple. This rare breed
gains ground on more popular breeds as it moves closer to the lead each
year. The Havanese is ranked 38th on the national list."
I thought this was an interesting statement. It actually kind of bummed me out-- I hope we don't start to see Havs in pet stores, shelters, etc

I know what you mean. It is exciting to see that other people have the same love for your breed. I went through this with Loki, my Shiba. Now I see them in pet stores all over Manhattan & they sell them as "Apartment-sized guard dogs" Ugh
