Help Please!! Larry David has taken to PEEING in my house

Any any any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sat night DH and I went to my bro's house. when we got home (around his normal walk time anyway), Larry David had peed on the area rug. We chalked it up to spite that we were out for the evening.

Yesterday, he peed on the rug again before I got home from work. This is normal schedule - he wasn't walked earlier in the am, nor was i home later in the pm.

This morning HE PEED ON THE BED!!!!!!!! Again, there was absolutely no schedule change.

I just got home and he peed again on the freaking area rug.

I don't know what's going on here. Is it possible there's something physically wrong, like do dogs get uti's?

Help please - I think DH is about to murder him.

yes, dogs definitely get UTIs. sophie just had one last month. of course, she never peed in the house - she would never do such a thing since she thinks she's human. no, it's OWEN, who has NO UTI, who peed ON MY BED just about an hour ago. how maddening is it when your (previously potty-trained) dogs pee in the house?!?!?!?!

if it continues i would call the vet and have them do a urinalysis to rule out UTI. also maybe try taking him out a couple more times a day for a few days?

he could definitely be sick.

has there been any change in the house? furniture placement/delivery? a change in his routine? anything going on around the house that he could notice and be disturbed by?

Maybe another dog in the area or is getting in your yard? Has there been another animal in the house????

I'm going to say - take him to the vet. If there aren't any changes, then it has to be something internal. Unless, as Shana said, there is another dog in the yard or something.

Re: Help Please!! Larry David has taken to PEEING in my house

Thanks you guys.

This morning I walked him as soon as I woke up, just to pee, and DH will take him for his normal walk before he leaves for work (haven't heard yet how that went). I'm going to try to get out of here a few minutes early today to get home and walk him again. If this doesn't work, we're goign to hit the vet.

We did realize that I switched his food from 'original' to 'healthy weight' (same brand). Healthy weight wouldn't have a diuretic in it, would it? So, we'll keep a watch on it.

I really appreciate all your quick responses!!

DH did Chat Icon It's so embarrassing when you call to make an appt for the dog, or mention him to someone who doesn't already know - people are just kind of like yeah, ok Chat Icon

I've decided this means I get to name our first born then Chat Icon

It might be a diuratic, but then he should still be altering you to let you know that he has to go.

If it does not stop today I would call the vet. Chat Icon

with the switch in food, he might be just telling you he doesn't like it....Chat Icon some dogs just have that personality.

Chat Icon that he is not ill and just being "bratty"

Re: Help Please!! Larry David has taken to PEEING in my house

Just wanted to update you all since you've been so great with the advice. Yesterday, LD was walked 5 times (normally 3) and no peeing (in the house). We're going to do this today and tomorrow too, then we're into the weekend so we'll be home with him to watch. If anything else changes we'll give a call to the vet but I am thinking there must be a correllation between the food change and the renegade peeing since they both started within hours of one another.

I'll keep you updated Chat Icon

Weird yesterday - I took Tiny our in the afternoon for a walk - He peed....I left to go food shopping and when I came home, she said Tiny Pee'd in the house. He never does this.

Very strange

How old is your dog?? They do tend to test you. When they hit 1 year, 2 years and sometimes three years they will resort back to puppy behavior to see if they can get away with it.

He might just missing you guys too.

Hope all stays well

Chat Icon He's about 6 and a half!

He's been doing ok the past few days with the extra walks. We'll try to bring it down to four this weekend and go back to three on Monday, see how that goes.
