Peeing on the floor-advice ?

OK, so we have had Jersey for almost a week and we are crating her. She has never went to the bathroom in her crate and was doing awesome as far as letting us know when she wanted to go out. She'd sit by the back door and bark. Well yesterday she went out, came in and about 20 minutes later she peed on the kitchen mat. We took her out & she peed again. Then about a 1/2 hr. later, she peed where the mat was again! (it was in the wash) Now tonight she went out, peed, and again about 30 minutes later, she peed on a different mat and then again outside. What do you think is going on? Should I be worried? We're taking her to the vet next week for the first time anyway, but just looking for some opinions/ advice. TIA!

UPDATE: We just noticed that she is dripping little spots of pee. DH is so upset, he thinks she's sickChat Icon Maybe I'll try to make my vet appt. sooner.

Make sure you clean the spot really GOOD. Maybe some vinegar and water. They can smell it. She is still a baby and needs work. Don't yell at her. Don't disapline her unless you catch her in the act. When rudy would have accidents and I caught him in the act... I'd say NO pick him up and put him outside. It really took him about 3 days to really get it Chat Icon GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the response. Yes, we cleaned it really well. I definitely didn't yell, we did just that, took her right out. I was just nervous that she is peeing so much, not necessarily that she peed inside. I think I'm just being a worry wartChat Icon

I wouldn't worry TO MUCH Chat Icon Chat Icon

Does she drink a lot. Rudy will pee everytime he goes out. OR if I take him for a walk he sniffs. If he smells a spot where another dog went he pees we get down the block he smells another spot he pees Chat Icon

Re: Peeing on the floor-advice ?

I would leave her inside the crate (even if you're home) unless you can have eyes on her at ALL TIMES. The minute you turn around she'll go pee and like the previous post said you have to catch her in the act of peeing to discipline her.

Just try and be patient, she'll catch on soon enough Chat Icon

Please don't yell at her. It will make her more nervous.

Take her to the vet asap for a full checkup(blood, stool, urine etc).

To clean it up, use Simple Solution or Natures Miracle(found in Petco). Don't use vinegar. SS and NM remove the smell so the dog won't go in the same spot.

Remember she is just a baby. So patience is the key.

Every time she pees outside make a big deal out of it. Hug her, praise her etc.

If she goes in the house, give a firm "no". Eventually she will get it.

Thank you!Chat Icon They think she is a boxer/lab mix but she's a rescue, so they aren't 100% sure.

Re: Peeing on the floor-advice ?

is she drinking a lot of water?

i didnt put the water dish down at first for Bailey - I would only put it down during mealtime or when we were playing, intermittenly thru the day.

Re: Peeing on the floor-advice ?

Scout could pee a hundred times a day -- and he leaves a pretty little trail sometimes too. This is because he knows he isnt' supposed to be peeing in the house, but he can't hold it and is trying to get to somewhere "safe" to pee. So I wouldn't worry about the drips.

Clean up well, and if puppy is out of the crate just be totally aware of body language. It is normal to pee this much when they are so young.

Thanks everyone, I feel much better. I just didn't wnat her to be sick! DH brought her to the vet today, she had to go soon anyway and he wasn't concerned. I have been leaving the bowl of water out all day, maybe I should only put it out when she eats. Anyway, thanks for the repsonses!
