Re: Guacamole-Why does it turn brown?
I wouldn't make it today for Sunday. I personally do not care for it unless it's fresh. The earliest I would make it is Saturday.
ETA: I have discovered Glad "Press N Seal". it is amazing and sticks to any bowl or plate except for wood. I used that to cover everything.

I heard to do this and I also heard that if you keep the pit in the mix with it and remove just before serving that it will prevent it from turning brown... I haven't tried it myself yet though, so let me know if it works!

Re: Guacamole-Why does it turn brown?
You should just make it on Sunday morning.
You can cut up everything but the avocado, then when you are readiy to make it, then cut it up. Squeeze some lemon juice into the mix and it will prevent some browning.

Re: Guacamole-Why does it turn brown?
You need to keep the pit and put it into the bowl of finished guacamole, then cover it up really well. That should keep it green!
I love guacamole!!!

Lime juice works better and tastes better than Lemon IMO.

I always put lime in mine. It looks and tastes really good with the lime juice - never brown.

All the suggestions are good.
I use the saran wrap method - put the guac in an airtight container and press saran wrap down so it's touching the guac (no air bubbles) and then put the top on to seal it.

Yup, that's how I do it too.... except I don't put a lid on top of the saran wrap. It stay fine!

Re: Guacamole-Why does it turn brown?
A little late, but put everything in the bowl EXCEPT the avocado. Slice, cut and add right before you serve. The lime juice works and the pit does to some extent, but really, adding the avocado last is the best method. I used to work for a restaurant and this was what I learned.

I tried that and I think it worked. It eventually turned brown, but that is because I served it outside on the 4th of july. But I think it definitely helped in slowing the process.
