In your other post, you said your baby won't take a bottle.

Re: Switching to Stage 2 nipples?

He did in the begining but in the past 2 weeks he has been giving us a hard time with it. He takes it eventually but he is not happy and only drinks a little. I switched to stage 2 nipples and that helps a little

Are you using the wider nipples - there are regular size and the ones where the package says it makes it easier for the baby to switch from breast to bottle. Make sure you try that type. Or maybe your baby is not ready for the stage 2.

Re: Switching to Stage 2 nipples?

just an important tip, if you are nursing and want to keep nursing, DO NOT move to level 2's. My daughter stopped taking the breast suddenly at 5 months two days after I switched nipples. The milk comes out so much easier, that some babies don't want to work harder at the breast. I was so sad!! My girlfriend stayed with level ones and breast fed for a year.

Thanks for the responses. Alex is 5 months and I still use the stage 1 but I think I am going to switch now.

With Avent - I didn't switch until 4.5/5 months because he was fine with it. And then when I did he didn't love stage 2 and went to stage 3 where he still is at 7mos (he is 7mo today!).

With Playtex, I went from slow to fast flow in 2 months. Tne fast was a little too fast so I stopped using them and brought them back at like 4 months.

If your baby is fine, why switch? from what I read or hear - you are fine - that is the way to go. Why change something that isn't broken?

Re: Switching to Stage 2 nipples?

I use the playtex ventaire bottles. My daughter is 4 1/2 months. I tried switching to the stage 2 a week ago and the formula was pouring all over her. I felt so bad, like she couldn't keep up with it. My husband liked them because she would finish the bottle in less than 10 minutes as opposed to 20 with the stage 1. I switched back to stage 1. I'll try again in a few weeks.
