I've only been to the Amalfi coast and loved it! The villages so so quaint and beautiful. The scenery is incredible.

Amalfi Coast!!
I liked Capri, but it was soooooo touristy. The towns in the coast have much more charm.

Amalfi!!
Capri is nice, but besides the grottos (which are closed on windy days), its basically 5th Avenue with nice restuarants and outside. It has a lot of high end stores and a ton of tourist.
I stayed in Positano for a week and loved it!! You can drive to Amalfi (beaches), Ravello (great restaurants), Atrani (more beaches and restaurants). You can also take these little boats to private beaches. All they ask is that you patronize their restaurants, and the lemoncello doesn't stop flowing.

I have been to both, and since you only have one day I would say Capri. That will give you lots of time to explore and hit some spots on the island that are not as toursity.
The amalfi coast is great, but there is a lot to see and you may feel rushed to see all of it in a short period of time.

Positano is amazing. It is so beautiful. Even though I LOVED Capri, I would have to say the Amalfi Coast!

oooo tough call!!!
I vote for Amalfi. Go to a WINERY!!!!
Capri is all shops and tourists, the blue grotto, etc...while its beautiful, IMO, its not as beautiful as Amalfi. Amalfi FEELS like "the old country" as our grandparents want us to remember it. There's no other way to describe it.

We are going in April and staying in Positano.
A lot of people dosay Sorrento is a good base to stay and take day trips to others-
I say go for Positano- you can always go to Capri for a day. From Positano you can also head over to Almalfi and Ravello-
