Here's my kitchen...what color for the walls?

We moved into our new house in December. The kitchen was totally gutted and renovated by the previous owners in 2004 and we love it, but HATE the wall color. It's this bright lime green, yuck-o!

We are considering either a sage green, or even possibly BM Audubon Russett...the granite is WEIRD (not exactly our taste, but it's staying!) and matches the BM paint swatch for Aud. Russet exactly, but I am not sure if the paint would blend in with the cabinets and floors (hardwood ~ red oak) , making it look too blah and all one color. We ARE planning to sand and stain the floors a lighter color within the next few months, because we are expanding the hw floors out into the living room, and they need to match.

Any other suggestions for paint colors?

I would go with a coffee color or something in the beige family..russett seems as though it would make everything look too dark

I think the Audobon Russett would look fantastic with your cabinets, tile/countertop & floor. A sage gree would be nice as well but I am partial to orange/red in kitchens and DRs.

I think they used the granite and pulled the lime green from there as their inspiration for the paint. In theory, it's a good design idea but I agree with you... it's a bit much.

Perhaps pick one of the other shades of green from the granite.

ETA: I don't know what Auburn Russet looks like off the top of my head. If it's more in the reddish oak/pumpkin family I wouldn't worry about it "matching" the cabinet color too much. All of the elements should coordinate. I used the reddish hues in my cabinetry to help pick the paint color I used. There are pics of my kitchen in my community album called "Home".

I would go with a taupe or brown or something in the sage family. I think that the Audobon Russet would be too dark.

very nice kitchen. IMO audubon russet doesn't work well with oak. Originally we were going to re-use the cabinets that came with our house-grainy oak & although I loved the paint it didn't jive with the oak. So then I had 'dry sage' picked out. Ultimately we changed the cabs to maple so I used A.Russet. I think the sage/olive color thats on the leaf on the backsplash would be ideal.
Maybe a rich mocha color would work too.

I think Audubon Russet would look nice with your kitchen! If you are going to do a tan Id go w/ something kinda dark since your cabinets are light and since you plan to lighten your floors.

I love the Russett! Also check out Georgian Brick. I was originally going to use the Russett in our den but chose Georgian Brick instead. In our den we have one wall Georgian Brick, one wall is a brick wall and one wall is pine planking and it looks good.

I agree with the "something orangy". It would really complement all the colors you have and it would create a really warm, rich feeling in there.

Personally I would go a little lighter. I think the old owners were trying to brighten it up in there but I agree, not so nice...I would personally choosea light neutral color in the beige family. The wood is dark, the countertops are dark, I like a brighter kitchen. But that's just me...It is beautiful by the way!!!

Dry Sage or Olive branch I think would look great in their. I think any orangey color is going to throw off the tone of the cabinets.
I actually really like the grainte that is their, it is a little busy but so pretty. You also have a beautiful kitchen.

I would go with a tan. Where did you get those corner pieces in the eating area???? I love them.
