Just a quick attendance question
How many absences are acceptable in a school year? The reason I ask is I found some old report cards and was shocked at how many I had.

Re: Just a quick attendance question
At my school, In NYC, attendance impacts promotion. I have two potential hold overs because they have more than 20 absences.

Re: Just a quick attendance question
The attendance policy at my h.s. is 8 unexcused absences for a half year class and 16 for a full year. Anything school related (music lessons, therapy, etc.) is exempt.
After that students are supposed to receive a DCA on their report card and not a grade (Denied Credit due to Attendance).
There is an appeals process and many local doctors are starting to complain about pressure from parents to write all sorts of notes
To be honest, unless there is a chronic, serious, illness even 15 absences is too much IMO... that's 1 1/2 per month on top of all of the vacation days. That would never fly in the "real world".
