If you're adopted from Out-Of-State

Thanks to a few of you who recm'd puppymillrescue.org! We're in the process of adopting a cuitepie, but nothing is set in stone.

Just wanted to know the experience of those that have adopted from out-of-state. The sweetie we're looking at now is in Texas - and they prefer you come to pick up the dog, but I wanted to know if there were other options.

Also - if we do end up getting this adorable bundle of joy - I've never been on a plane w/a pet before - how does that work?

It depends on the size of the dog & the dog's situation. When we were looking at a Chihuahua, we would have just carried the dog on board with us (I think there was an extra fee of $100). There are airline approved carriers that have to fit below the seat in front of you during takeoff & landing. Look at the airline's websites, as some have different weight requirements.

Especially for a smaller rescue dog I prefer this to animal cargo, as the dog is already traumatized about being in close quarters with no human interaction from the mill days.

so cute!

make sure you call the airline first- sometimes they limit the amout of dogs on the plane

my brother travels with his dog alot and last time him and his FW had to fly on different flights b/c they only wanted 2 dogs on the plane at a time
