Broken light bulb removal....
All-- Here is an odd one for you. I was trying to unscrew a burnt-out light bulb from out ceiling fixture and the darn glass came loose from the metallic base. Surprisingly, the glass didn't shatter, but the filament came with it, so, what is left in the fixture is the metal screw base. My wife suggested the 'potato trick', where you carve a small potato and insert it into the light fixture so that you can apply leverage to the metal screw base and extract it from the fixure. To make a long story short, this didn't work (anyone for curly fries?) Anybody have any suggestions? (We may have to call our apartment complex maintenance people but in the meantime perhaps there are other vegetables out there that might work, LOL....)
TIA,
Kal-El in Flushing

I've had that happen. If you have a pair of needlenose pliers with rubber handles, use them to remove the bottom. Make sure you turn off the switch first...you probably wouldn't get shocked, but I don't want to be responsible.
Sometimes you have to bend part of it inward to get a grip with the pliers.

Yes, just don't touch the pliers to the very bottom of the base. The best thing to do is bend the metal a little bit with the pliers so it is easier to unscrew. MAKE SURE THE SWITCH IS OFF FIRST!!!!
