Passport changes - how long to get back
I read they are really busy with passport changes and new pasports and that it can take up to 10 weeks to get them back! I have to send in my forms to change my name before we go to Ireland on May 18th. That is 9 1/2 weeks. DO you think I will have to pay the expedited fee? I was trying to avoid it!!

I'd pay the fee honestly. It's been all over the news that it is taking 10 weeks since all of the rules changed in January.

I would also pay the fee. We are going away 6/27 and we were told if we don't go buy the end of this week we should than pay the fee instead of taking the chance of not getting them in time. We were luck enough to get an appointment for Thursday, we called a few post offices and they had no Saturday's available until April.

Since you are changing your name, you don't even have to go to the post office. Just mail the form, your picture, old passport & marriage certificate & put it in a padded envelope...
