What Brand Canned Tomatoes do you use??

We usually use Tuttoroso Brand crushed, and whole Tomatoes and their sauce, but yesterday I tried San Marzano. It is a little more money, but it is supposed to be a better tomato.

Danielle had them last night in a dish I made her and she said they had a really nice taste.

My sister in law had told me about them, and I figured I would try them. I will have to use them the next time I make chili or sauce.

The can is white.....I believe it was $2.39 at Waldbaums. I dont know if it goes on sale.

Usually I use Tuttoroso also but have been meaning to use san marzano but I haven't been able to find them. I think Rachael Ray uses San Marzano.

Yes you are right she does. I hope they go on sale sometime soon

Does it make a big difference in the canned tomatoes you use? I usually use Rienzi.

I use Tuttorosa also. Mainly because I can buy them bulk at BJ's. If I buy single cans in the Supermarket the San Marzano are really good.

Tutturoso and San Marzano are the only tomatoes that I have used. I have come a long way. Before I met Danielle I used sauce from a jar.....Hey what do I know....I'm not italian lol.

They used to laugh at me the way I used to pronounce everything. I used to say mozzarella....not muzzerella.....or Ricotta....Not Rigutta.....You get the idea.

Does Bj's sell the san Marzano by the case? How much are the tuttoroso Tomatoes at Bj's by the case?

Sometimes the Tuttoroso are on sale for $1.00 at stop and shop and walbaums. Thats when I stock up.

I use Tuttorosa and sometimes Progresso. Actually the Tuttorosa are on Sale at Stop & Shop this week 10 for $10

I jar my own tomatoes my mil taught me, she is from italy.
I make things with scalfani tomatoes if Ii am too lazy to grind my own--and my own mil cannot tell the diff.,
I think nothing is better.

i use tuttorusso the blue can whole tomatoes.....

if you go into a italian pork store they have real good stuff... my dad uses that when he makes it fresh...

To make a simple marinara, I start with RedPack tomato sauce.

It's what my mom uses, so I just followed what she did.

Uncle Guisseppes has San Marzano canned tomatoes on sale this week 1 cans for $3.00 (Big cans).

whatever is on sale at stop-n-shop it all tastes the same to me - i'm one that says ricotta, not rigott as well

I only use San Marzano - the taste is worth the extra money.
