Day Care Options
Can anyone help me out on finding a day care center for our baby? We're expecting in the end of July and I'd like to do some research in advance. Has anyone heard good/bad things about certain chains? I'm in the Ronkonkoma area and would love some recommendations. Thanks!

Most Tutor Times and Kiddie Academys are franchises and are all individually owned, therefore each place is different... There general curriculum and policies are pretty good...
I believe the Tutor Time in Ronkonkoma is Corp. owned... and I have heard pretty good things about them...
KinderCare is a national Corp. owned by Knowledge Learning Corp.- Most of their centers are all open classrooms, and there curriculum is also good...
ChildTime- is owned by the same Corp. that owns tutor time- but I havent heard anything to wonderful about them...
You just wanna look into their turn over rate- you dont want your child have his/her teacher quitting every other week- you want consistency.. and you just wanna make sure they are following all the NYS licenscing regs..
Its hard- each center although the same name can be totally different...
Any specific places/locations you want to know about?

Thats great info, thanks! There is a KinderCare right near me on Vets Hwy in Bohemia. I was wondering about that one. DO you know how far in advance you need to "book" them? I work in Melville, which is about 20 mins away w/ no traffic, 40 mins with. I was wondering if i'm better off picking a day care out there? That way the baby would be with me during the commute. I don't know, so much to think about!

Our DS is enrolled in Kid's Place Daycare. It borders MacArthur airport. He's been going for a few months now, and we like it, and so does he. It's affiliated with the Connetquot School District. It's not run by them, but they do have an official affiliation.

I bring my daughter to KinderCare in Pt. Jeff and so far it has been great. She always seems happy when I pick her up and it is never a struggle when she is dropped off, so I am pretty certain that things are going well during the day. One thing that I really liked about that place compared with Tutor Time was that when I went to check it out, they brought me right in to the infant room and let the teacher in there explain everything to me about how things run in there and what their day is like. I didn't feel like I was being given the "guided tour" if you know what I mean. I guess I felt like the people taking care of my baby were talking to me rather than having somebody who wanted to sell me on the place give me the cr@p that is in the brochure! I also felt that this place was bright and more cheery than the Tutor Time I looked at. That one seemed kind of dark and not well lit which bothered me a bit. This place IS alot more money than Tutor Time was, but all things considered, I chose this place. Of course, DD only goes 1 day a week so if it were much more money for 5 days I may have had to make a different decision. Also, my husband was laid off from his job for about 2 months and they let me un-enroll her and then re-enroll her when he went back so I didn't have to pay all that time to hold her place.
As far as the location, you may want to choose a location closer to your job in case God forbid she gets sick or hurt and you need to get there to pick her up.
