Just found out I have gestational diabetes
Any advice for me? I am going to the dietician monday. I also have to get a glucose monitor, and I see the perinatologist in 2 weeks.
I am so upset.

No advice since I didn't go through it.
I do know that most women can control it with diet so I am sure the nutritionist will be really helpful.

 - No advice - I'm sorry!!
2 of my sister's had GD with their pregnancies. I believe they followed the Brewer diet (sp?).
They both also had big babies, but were able to deliver vaginally.

I have no advice -but I wanted to give you a hug...
There were a lot of women in my lamaze class that had it - and they felt fine as long as they kept it under control.

Just wanted to give you some hugs.
My cousin had gestational diabetes (diabetes runs in my family).
I really don't have any advice, but I just remember her having to watch her diet really good so the baby didn't get too big.

I have it and it is controlled by diet. I have to test my blood 4 times a day. The diet is similar to South Beach or Atkins. The carbs are very limited. So far I have lost about 5 pounds on this diet and I have been on it about 4 1/2 weeks. I can not wait for the baby to be born so I can go back to eating normally!

You and your baby will be fine, you'll have to watch your diet - which may take alittle getting used too in the beginning - the nutritionist will help you and you will get through this

I had it.. IF you have questions please FM me at any time....It really was alot easier then I ever expected. I also got a great book called Maanaging Gestational Diabetes.. it was the best book.. it helped me more than than Dietician,

I have gestational diabetes also. The diet isn't so bad. You just have to test your blood sugar 4 times a day and it's basically like a lower carb diet. If you have any questions let me know! The only thing is that I am 36 weeks and on Thursday my baby was already 7 lbs 9 oz. it was 6 lbs 11 oz a week before, so I'm definately growing a big baby! But hopefully all will go well with delivery.
