my puppy is sick *Updated*

over the past couple of days our puppy has been throwing up and going to the bathroom all over the place. we heard about the recall but only gave him dry Iams. My dh gave him some Iams pouch wet meals that came with the dry food a couple of weeks ago to see if he likes them and now we are worried he is sick from the food. we called the vet and we have an appointment this morning. They said it sounds like he has all the symptoms. he's throwing up multiple times a day, has very bad diarehea and is drinking alot of water. i'm so worried.


**Update** The vet took an xray and he thinks he may have eaten something. maybe even a sock. dh is taking him for an ultrasound now and they will decide what to do. i actually feel relieved that this could be because of a sock.

Not sure how long you've had the puppy, but if you just got him he could just be a little stressed form the transition. When we got Peanut she was actually sick from a parasite that was passed to her from her mother. @ puppy mills

Take him to the vet and get him checked out, it may not be anything at all and just a sour tummy.

What an awful time for pet owners this is.

We took all of Scout's canned food back to the pet store yesterday with no receipt - no problem. The lot we had wasincluded in the recall..

first of all, i'm so sorry! keeping your little one in my thoughts and prayers.

if your vet hasn't already done so, i would suggest checking your dog's electrolytes. my owen just had similar symptoms and, common things being common, we assumed it was a viral gastroenteritis. but he actually turned out to have addison's disease, which was life-threatening at the time. we would never have known had we not gotten the electrolyte panel - many vets miss it for this reason. plus, even if your dog has a basic GI illness, he could have electrolyte derangements from vomiting/diarrhea that need correcting.

The ultra sound came back with nothing so they think he just has a stomach virus. We will get the blood results back in a few days to rule anything else out. He seems like he's feeling better today.
