Jealousy?

Anyone feel this way??

To get shopping done i usually have to drop the boys off at my MIL house to go shopping. So I had off one day this week and dropped them off so i could go to BRU and the mall. Well all of these ladies were walking around the mall and BRU with their one baby in their carts and shopping and some of these woman had newborns.

I know it sounds crazy but I was actually feeling pangs of jealousy at the fact that these woman can go out shopping with the one on their own and get things done. I cannot take two babies out and get a cart, it's almost impossible for me to get their pictures professional done witout help and feeding two when by yourself is impossible so if you do get them out you need to be home by their next feeding unless someone is with you.

I feel sooo blessed to have had two healthy babies and that is so important to me, but i was kind of shocked at my reactions to seeing so many new moms with their babies shopping. Just wondering if anyone else feels this at times.

I used to feel that way. I was very reluctant to take them out with me because it was so hard. But once I started getting out with them more, you see how much you really can do with them. It's gotten so much easier taking them out because I guess you just learn as you go and now I don't even hesitate to bring them out with me.

I agree, I used to be like this in the beginning, such as rush around to make sure I get home in time for the next feeding, but now that I take them out everywhere it does get easier as they are getting older.

Re: Jealousy?

I don't have jealousy, but yes it seems definitely easier. But I am sure it to is hard.
Honestly I don't think it is truly difficult. It just takes me a bit longer in the store, etc. I feel people are helpful when they see me with two infants. And I greatly appreciate that. When I go to BRU or BBB or even food shopping. I know I only need to get what I can fit in the basket below or in a small handle basket. (It definitely has saved me a lot on money.Chat Icon)
I love going to the mall with the girls, I find going there the easiest. (and yes, the comments are funny.) Ok, I don't get to try on things, but I hate doing that anyway.
I feed them all the time when i am out. It takes practice and patience. You can do it!!!

Re: Jealousy?

I was the crazy mom in the supermarket pushing a stroller and pulling the cart! I remember one time the boys started screaming their heads off about 3 isles from the end of the store. It definitly isn't easy, and I definitly wonder what it must be like to pull 1 baby out of the car (minus a stroller) and "run into a store". Chat Icon I guess we will never know!

Re: Jealousy?

I hear what your saying. It is hard, but it is great to hear encouragement from other twin moms.Chat Icon

I have started feeding them out. The other day I was holding two bottles in the cereal aisle, while pushing the stroller. I cant imagine how much easier it will be when they can hold their own bottles.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Jealousy?

I'm definetly not good with taking them both out by myself. I try to avoid it at all costs. But, when I do, I feel like by the time I get home I am soooo exhausted!!!

I guess I have a *little* jealousy/envy of the mommies with one, cuz it does "look" so much easier.

Re: Jealousy?

The only time I ever thought of it was when I was out with my big double jogger and couldn't fit in the door of a store (not me the jogger Chat Icon). Then I thought to myself how selfish and ridiculous I was being - being that some women can't even have one baby. And the fact that my 2 might be healthier or better behaved or whatever, than some people's one baby.

So I try to think of it that way - and so what if I can't run around like I used to? Maybe being slower-paced will be better in the long run anyway. I also find I'm more planned now - I have to think about the course of stores I take and rate the importance. I also do a lot of errands when DH gets home at night.

I have done that MANY times. In BRU,Target, supermarkets you name it. (Gotta love Costco because they have some carts w/ the 2 baby option)

What I hate is when they look at Patrick like he is a bad kid for not helping me. Chat Icon He can't see over the cart & pushing his sisters in a store isn't an easy task either.

I love going to costco since they both fit in the cart. When they get a bit older and you can put them in the back of the cart it is easier, but the more you do it the easier it will become even with feeding them while out.
