C-Section vs Natural

I have been hearing different things from different people. My doctor won't discuss it yet. What did the majority of you do with twins and if you don't mind me asking why?

It does depend upon the practice, the position of the babies, and other complicated factors.

Most of the twin mommies I have met wound up with a c-section for various reasons. Could be the babies' position (not both vertex or heads down) and there is a greater likelihood with two that they won't both be head down, other medical factors, or even the same factors as to why singleton mommies need a c-section.

Of the ones I can think of I think I only know one who was able to have both vaginally.

Right now the plan for me is vaginally because both are head down and there is no more room for them to move. Of course, if I don't progress, or for any other unanticipated reason, the doctor's might have to do an unscheduled c-section.

My doc didn't even decide until week 36.

my doctor won't discuss it yet either. i'm 28 weeks and he said we have to wait to see what positions the babies go into. right now they are still laying horizontally, one above the other.

i'm so anxious about this, but i'll just have to wait and see!

Both were head down, I got to 8 cm and never progressed so I had a c-section.

my dr told me as soon as we discovered we were having twins, that I was going to have a c-sect, that is how he delivers his twins. I was more calm with this decision.

Thanks girls for your input. I am hoping to go natural but I know there are many factors. My SIL says for sure to have a C section and don't let anyone talk me out of it. She says b/c she has seen women go in naturally and then have to have the other baby C section. I am just curious, I know there is no right or wrong but figured I would ask you girls with experience.

Babies were both head down. But at 39 weeks I showed no signs of labor and my doctors did not induce, because they felt it would be too much strain on my uterus. I also knew in the back of my mind I could have one natural and one c-section.

Ultimately, you have the choice. I felt the right choice for me was c-section.

I had a c-section before the twins so they wouldn't let me try a v-bac

I had a c-section and my doctor told me at week 10 that he would only deliver them that way since they shared the same placenta. After doing some research i felt totally comfortable with that decision as there is a danger that as one baby comes out he could rip the cord of the other one out of the placenta.

Having it planned i think made my recovery 100x better - at least in my case. I was up walking around with pajamas on in the hospital about 36 hours after the surgery.

I had a c-section - one baby was tranverse (laying across the bottom with his tushy in the birth canal!) and one was breech.
So there was no question, they were in that position from pretty much the beginning.

Both my Dr and I wanted to go natural and I was induced for 3 days for this to happen. Unfortunaly I was induced at 35 weeks and they were not ready to come out, even though one needed to be out ASAP since he was too small and not getting enough. After we went as long as we could with the induction I had a c-section. My Dr was really pushing fro the vaginal birth and I was glad that I was not forced into a c-section becuase of their policies.

Natural no pain meds...

I was fortunate that they were both head down from about 27 weeks and that I went really quickly..

The girls were born at 35 weeks in about 3 hours from when my water broke to when baby-b made her appearance
