Question for Teachers/School Counselors

Does anyone teach or a school counselor in the district they went to school? I was noticing the other day how many people I went to school with went back to work in the district. For me I will be happy to land a job in any district. Just wondering if anyone works where they grew up?

I don't. I thought that it would be too strange. I didn't even apply there.

Re: Question for Teachers/School Counselors

a bunch of people that I went to HS with are back at our old school teaching. Personally, I don't like it. I did summer school there one year, and it was totally weird.

i work where i went to HS... no complaints here... it was helpful at first because i already knew where everything was... I also know first hand what "type" of kids go to school because i was once one of them...

Re: Question for Teachers/School Counselors

I work where I went to school. I love it. Honestly, there aren't many people there that were there when I was a student. It did help to know the layout of the building. But things have definitely changed since I was there. My district likes to hire some of their graduates.

I could have written this post
Hardly any of my teachers work in the school anymore bc they have retired and the ones that are there have been nothing but welcoming - I actually teach with two other people from my graduating and two from the class above me - its very nice and im so thankful

Re: Question for Teachers/School Counselors

I teach in the same district, but not the same school. It definitely reduced my stress level when I was a new teacher because I basically knew the ins and outs of the district since I was a student there. Some people are against it, but it was a great decision for me.
