Do you use a travel agent?

Do you use a travel agent to book your trips or do it on your own?

The only time we used a travel agent was for our honeymoon because we wanted the travel insurance.

we do once in awhile, I find that it is no harm to get prices from a TA and then see if they can do better... We don't use one often, we did for our HM...and probably will for our Anniversary Trip-depending on where we are going.

Yes - usually. It honestly costs the same and I would rather have someone worry about the details for me!

Yes. It is so much easier for us. My family always did so I am following them

It is also easier so much easier for cruising IMO

I've never used one. If I was planning a big trip I would consider it, but I feel comfortable enough booking my own flights and hotels, so I haven't felt the need to go to an agent yet.

I have used one in the past although my trip to italy was booked through Expedia.

Sometimes. Sometimes we go there and talk to someone and get ideas then see if we can find it cheaper. Always nice to go and talk to someone and see if anyone in the office has been there.

I used one for our HM and I was glad I did. The price wasnt that much different from the internet and we got a non stop flight.

For "real" trips, yes, she is my aunt and gets us very good deals and is very helpful in helping us work out hte detaisl. Actually, since our Alaska trip and our upcoming cruise are family vacations, she and her family are coming too

But if we are just going to Florida to see DH's family or a smaller trip, we just book everything oursevles.

Only for our honeymoon and that was because it was to Fiji and I felt more comfortable having her book our flights, find us the best package, and get us the insurance. I LOVED our HM travel agent, she really was very helpful.

Other than that, I am our travel agent - I enjoy planning our vacations (but sometimes I'm so picky I end up booking last minute b/c I can't decide where I want to go). Last year we went to Europe and didn't book the Portugal end of our trip until we got to London. I could have used a travel agent then!

Considering I am a booking agent and about 80% of my office are travel agents with an average of 20 years experience I sure do use them

We have a close family friend who is a travel agent and we always use her when we are booking a big trip.

Like someone else had said, it's easier to let them deal with some of the details.

Never-- we went to one when we were booking our HM and honestly, I did not feel like they did anything for us-- so we booked ourselves. Plus DH looooves to research flights, etc., so what would he do??

Never for Europe. Sometimes for caribbean trips and cruises, only because my cousin is a supervisor with Liberty and she price manages whatever best price I find. I do all the research though and just tell her what I want and she books it. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't bother with an agent. I like doing the research.
