What to do with an Aggressive Fish?

We have one Angel Fish in our tank that has gotten really agressive.

We've had it for 3 years without incident, but now he's be pecking the eyes out of the other Angel fish and some of the smaller fish in the tank.

What do we do?

Part of me just wants to flush the little punk. But then I feel guilty.

Any suggestions?

Is it large? Can you give it to a pet store to resell?

This is what DH does with his fish if they become too aggressive.

Interesting...I never thought of that.

It's not huge, but it's pretty big.

Re: What to do with an Aggressive Fish?

You can get a big tank. Angel fish are Cichlids (a mild cichlid) and they can get territorial about their space. I had cichlids for 10 years, but the more aggressive kind. Also it could be she/he is getting ready to mate.

What you can do is get a tank divider and put the aggressive fish on its own in a smaller part of the tank for a week or two then take the divider out. I had a 20 gallon that was too small for two cichlids that I had and I did this. It worked for a while. I got a larger tank shortly after that. My fish were really huge, though. It is worth a try.

ETA- if it is getting ready to mate, do you notice this fish being defensive of a particular rock or plant. Is it digging holes? I mated my cichlids and this is what happened.
