what would you do?

we are planning a trip to DC in May. WE are finding that hotels in arlington are very expensive, but that i mean almost $200 a night.

there are hotels in dc,, capitol hill area for about $70 a night. but not the safest area.

would you spend the almost $200 a night, only for 4 nights, or would you stay in DC and hope for the best?

Re: what would you do?

I would do a search for the DC hotels on tripadvisor.com and read the reviews.

I personally wouldn't want to stay in an unsafe area. I'd be too paranoid to enjoy my trip.

$200 vs. $70 is a big difference though. I'd try to find a hotel somewhere in the middle of that price range.

Re: what would you do?

I would look into Old Town Alexandria and Pentagon City - we stayed at a Marriott in the PC area and it was a quick (5 min) subway/train ride to DC.
