Im new to bereavement

On February 27th my sweet and beloved mother passed away. I am still in shock over this and at times I am just so overcome with sadness. I miss her so terribly and feel like this sadness is never ever going to go away. I just want my mom back.

Part of me does not want to tell my story because then it means I have to admit that it is really true. It was such a shock to us, as my mom was only 67 and died while she was having double bypass surgery. She never woke up...basically she started to bleed after they sewed her up and they could not get it to stop. So sad. My parents were married for 51 years and my poor father is just so lost without her. We all are.

Re: Im new to bereavement

I'm so sorry about your loss. It must have taken a lot for you to post this. I'm no expert, but maybe talking about it will help you deal with your mom being gone? I'll say a prayer for you, her and your dad. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Im new to bereavement

Thank you, sometimes it still feels like a bad bad dream. Luckily, I do have alot of siblings, and we all are feeling that same feeling of being lost and our emotions are a yo-yo. One minute you can be fine and the next moment I am so overwhelmed with loss.

So sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my dad a year ago on the same date as your mom. He was just 62.

I'm so Sorry.

I lost my Mother almost 9 years ago and there isn't a day i don't think of her!

Thankfully it sounds like your Mother had a wonderful life.... a loving husband and a wonderful daughter who will miss her her much.

Re: Im new to bereavement

I am so sorry! I lost my dad 1 yr ago. He had a heart attack in front of me. I want to tell you like I tell my friend who lost her husband....it feels like it will NEVER get better but I swear it changes. People told me that and I thought NEVER. Honestly, a yr has passed I had my dd. I think of my father all the time and how he would love my dd but time heals I promise. you think back and some days will be good and some bad but it will NEVER feel as painful as it does right now. Your wounds are still open. Its gonna heal within time. If you need anything FM me. I wasnt into the support group or counseling thing but some people are. Try it out if you think it will help. I have some #s if interested.

Oh I'm so sorry for your loss. It really does help to talk about it. Losing your mother is one of the hardest things I think you'll have to go through..take it from me Chat Icon But with love and support from family and friends you'll get through it. Chat Icon

Re: Im new to bereavement

Again thank you to everyone. This is going to be a dificult wekend to get through as it is the first holiday without her. I wrote out the whole ordeal of my mom' death and funeral on my Live Joournal account maybe I will copy and paste it here, as well. Toooo long to retype. It does help being around people who understand and who will listen. It seems that is all I want to talk about but I am afraid I am torturing people with talk of my mother. I am 40 years old and feel like a little girl who has been abandon by her mother. Chat Icon

I trust one day I wont feel quite so bad. I just have to walk the walk and it hurts horribly.

Anyways, thanks everyone, you have been a nice source of comfort to me.
