XP: a little odd

respond to a job position that was posted on the web. I both email and fax my resume. (My resume which obviously has my address and phone number on it)

And I get this reply:

"thank you Marissa,
as a result of the craziness on the web, we require a photo for security purposes prior to inviting web aplicants for interviews. can you please email a pic as photo id ?
thank you"


Im sorry- is it just me- or is this odd and FREAKY...

Let me get this straight- you now have all my info and you want a picture too????


I responded with:

I understand you on the craziness of the web, but there are just as
many jobs that are "sketchy" as there are applicants. Id be happy to
send you whatever you need, but is it possible for us to speak first?
I too, would like to make sure this job is legitimate.

I wouldnt do it.....why would they need a picture? They can check your information.

i would've done the same thing! i saw a job posting on craigslist the other day for an administrative assistant and they wanted a photo attached with the resume! why do they need that???? what, are they only hiring the hot ones???

That is the oddest thing I have ever heard. I would have replied the same way....that is way freaky!!
