I'm so confused....

I feel silly asking this, but where should my DH go to get his semen analysis? My OB/GYN wrote out a prescription and I asked her where to go and she said anywhere your plan covers, like Quest laboratories. But I don't get it. Does Quest give out the cup and just tell him to go home and bring it back or what? Or is Quest just where you drop it off? Is there anywhere closer to Smithtown/Nesconset? I feel stupid for asking this, but I'm so clueless.

Also, where should I go to get my HSG and TSH? Does anyone have recommendations in this same area? I've been sitting on these prescrips since the 5th bc I have no idea who to call.

My friends husband did it at Quest. The Dr gave them a cup. The only Quest on Long Island that does Sperm anaylisis is the Syosset location. They told my friend she had one hour to bring it to them from the time is was um..done?? Dont know how to put it.

Stony Brook lab does it to.

Be careful and ask your insurance, WHO you should go to. MY insurance ONLY pays for Quest and it costs if you have to pay about $400-$500.

We had to do the same thing. Call Quest (the main number in Syosset) and make an appt. for DH. You can pick up a speciman cup from the one closest to you, but the sample must be brought to the Syosset lab. Make sure you bring the script.

For your b/w, you can just go to your local Quest and walk in with your script and sign in.

Ok .... ... this is so weird. So, we get a cup from Quest in Oakdale, rush to Nesconset where we live to have my poor DH jizz in a cup, and we floor the gas pedal so we can get to Syosset in an hour??????

Stony Brook is seeming like a better option. What dept of the hospital do I call to make an appt? DH is checking his insurance plan. Thanks for the heads up in that respect. $500 to look at THAT?!?

So frustrating bc I know it's me.....poor DH.

I am surprised your Doctor didn't give you any recommendations for your HSG.

DH had to bring his sperm to Stony Brook Hospital. Not sure what department. That is where I also had my HSG in the radiology.

My husband called his doctor and he got referrals to some Urologists in our area...

Do you always need a prescription???

Who is your Dr. ? We went to a Dr. just east of the Smithhaven mall and DH was able to take the cup home and bring it back the next day. We live in Nesconset and it is literally ten minutes away....If you need to go to a lab I would think Stonybrook is the next best option.
Also, there is a Quest Labs in Smithtown on 25 just east of 111, I was there on Saturday getting all my bloodwork done.
