How early is too early?

I am 31 wks pregnant and i wanted to know how early i could go into labour?

You could go into labor at any time.

a baby can survive after 25-26 weeks although complications are COMMON.

Full term is 37 plus weeks.

My friend gave birth at 26wks and her baby survived, but that is rare.

Baby is not "finished" until 35 wks. However the lungs will be fully developped by 40 wks.

Anything before 37 wks is considered pre-term labor.

One of my friends gave birth at 24 weeks. 111 days later and $621,000 in hospital bills, her baby boy came home. That was 2 years ago, and he's doing fine.

The youngest baby to ever survive was 1 day under 22 weeks..but this is a very very rare occurence..

For every day spent in utero the baby grows and matures....The biggest issue facing preterm infants is lung maturity...

I lost a set of twins at just 24 weeks gestation...their lungs just werent mature enough to survice.

At 31 weeks, should you go into preterm labor, your baby has an excellant chance of survival. But your doctors would do everything they could to try and stop labor...
