The name Elizabeth
I know this is a dumb question but besides:
Liz Beth Betty
Are there any other nicknames for Elizabeth out there that I am not thinking of?
I think the name is just ok. It was DH's mom's name. Orginally we were going to make it a middle name if we have a girl, but now I think he wants it as a first name. Although I don't love it, I really feel bad about arguing about it.
And what about middle names? Here is what I thought of so far:
Elizabeth Dianne (my mom's name) Elizabeth Grace Elizabeth Ann
Any other suggestions?
TIA! Christine

Re: The name Elizabeth
The only other nickname I came up with was Lizzy
I think it's really sweet of you to name the baby after your DH's mom

Re: The name Elizabeth
I think that Elizabeth is a great middle name, but I don't love it as a first name either. If you don't love it then I think it is worth exploring other options. JMHO

Re: The name Elizabeth
it's my name.. we are actually thinking of using it but calling her Lily only and giving her the option of using her longer name as an adult. there are TONS of nicknames for it if you look in a baby name book, it's amazing! i am not crazy about the nicknames as much as i love the name itself. i am called Liz and Lizzy a lot but only by family. i think it is a classic name and very pretty and that's NOT b/c it's my name! ....also makes a great middle name

Re: The name Elizabeth
I think it would be very sweet. Maybe you could spell it 'Elisabeth'? That's a new take, and then it could be a little different than his mom's, but still the same name. Regardless, I think it would be nice to use Elizabeth Diane, after your mom too.

Re: The name Elizabeth
My name is Elizabeth and most of my life people have called me Liz. Now all of a sudden everyone at work, DH, and my brothers all call me Lizzy.
I can tell you that I hated the name Elizabeth when I was growing up. I thought it was dorky. I didnt even really care for Liz either. But now that I am older, I love my name! I only wish that no one had started to call me Liz when I was little- because I would love to be called Elizabeth.

Re: The name Elizabeth
I know an Elizabeth that everyone called Bitsy. It was one of those things that sounded ridiculous to me at first and then I grew to kind of like it.

Re: The name Elizabeth
I LOVE the name Elizabeth. I had an aunt with that name, everyone called her Bea.
If we have a daughter I want to name her Elizabeth Joan after my grandmother who was Joan Elizabeth. I'm not a big fan of the name Joan, but I was a huge fan of my grandmother.

Re: The name Elizabeth
That's my MIL's name. We almost used it as a middle name, but DH veto'd it.. I like it
I've seen Ellie lately as a nickname- i knwo that has already been posted though.
My other friend use to be called Betty, and now hates that nickname. She only goes by Elizabeth now as an adult.
