Literacy celebrations?
Does anyone work in a school where yoiu do a schoolwide literacy celebration or literacy fair? We always do one and I'm looking for some fresh ideas. We basically have the parents in for a brief presentation & then they walk through the halls and look at various displays on bulletin boards and on tables that have been put out. Similar to like a gallery.

Re: Literacy celebrations?
We have one at night where each class has a table and displays student made books, with a compliments to the author sheet on the back. In addition, 5-6 kids from each grade are chose to read their own story - we make a schedule and each child has 5 minutes to read ( we do this in a classroom)

Re: Literacy celebrations?
We do not have one school wide celebration, but a lot of classes do literacy celebrations throughout the year. At the end of the year, Portfolio Picnics or Literacy Teas are popular.
