Tiny's eye

Tiny keeps squinting his right eye. When I took him out the first time this morning, he wasnt doing it.

I just took him out to go to the bathroom again and he is now doing it.

He is sitting on the couch next to me with his eye mostly closed.....and when he looks up at me he is trying to keep it open.

I am thinking he got something in his eye, but I cannot see anything.

Any ideas what it might be before I call the vet?
Thanks,
Scott

Re: Tiny's eye

it could be anything...an ingrown hair on his eyelid...he might have scratched it....it could be irritated from something outside....

did you try to flush it?

Re: Tiny's eye

Could be pollen, but check his eye carefully cuz Chihuahua's are prone to this wierd eye thing (I forgot what it's called, but my mom's dog gets it). If he has the eye thing, the area surrounding his eye will be red and his eye will look sort of pink.

Re: Tiny's eye

nope his eye is not pink or red.....I didnt try to flush it and I dont see any hairs or any strange objects in his eye at all.

I wonder if he scratched it because he was fine before I took him outside, and while he was outside.

Re: Tiny's eye

Hey Scott!

That used to happen to my dogs too, esp my little yorkie. Vet said it may be allergies..

But since they are so little and low to the ground something could have irritated it (blade of grass, dirt etc). I would wipe it with a damp clean paper towel.
