Does your high school have an artificial turf field?

Just trying to get a feel for if this is the norm around here or not. I plan on doing additional research on the issue, and if I find that it is more dangerous for the kids I will have no problem addressing the school board at the upcoming hearing.

After a bond vote failed earlier this school year, our school board has broken it up into 3 smaller bonds we will be voting on in May. I don't have a problem with most of the items the bond is being used for, however, a significant portion of the 3rd bond is to update our outdoor athletic facilities with artifical turf. DH said that many professional teams have moved away from artifical surfaces due to increased injuries and therefore increased insurance costs (which are not reflected in the bond). The school board says that it will be more cost effective since they won't really have to maintian it, and they are playing up that they won't be using pesticides.

Ours does in Lindenhurst, they actually just redid it.

Mine old HS just put one in. Newfield- Middle Country. I actually like it, my DH and I go for walks around the track and its so nice and clean...
