Okay...now I don't know what to do
Misty was raiding the litter box when she was a puppy and then she stopped.
Suddenly, she is doing it again. The last week she goes in there almost every day. I don't know what to do about it...I have tried yelling at her, washing her mouth out (I do that just cuz it grosses me out), and putting her in her crate. Nothing seems to work and I'm afraid to put anything in the litter cuz then Espresso may not use his box.
There is nowhere high that I can put the box and my only other option is to put a chain on the door where the box is - UGLY
So I am open to suggestions!

break out the can!!!!!!!
get a soda can or coffee can and fill it with coins. Then when you see her going for the box, start shaking the can!!! Dogs hate this noise... so it may help deter her.

That's the problem...she is a sneaky ****** about it...we always discover the trail of litter leading from the box and find it on her nose or teeth so it's too late to use the can.

we keep our litter box in the bathroom and have a baby gate up. the cat can jump over it no problem, and the dogs cant get in:)

That's what we had and I guess that's what we are going to have to go back to I just hate the baby gate blocking the bathroom - such a PIA.

it could be due to some deficiency she is experiencing (similar to when kids eat dirt.... ).
My dogs do it too when they come out in the cul de sac since there are feral cats and my one dog always seems to find where they go to the potty and nuzzles it and eats it.
GROSS.
there may be a reason, or it may be behavioral

I don't think it's a deficiency - She just has a thing for cat poop . She won't even go near dog poop, but will dig up cat poo...it's the grossest thing, I swear...I can't even look at her after she's done it she pizzes me off so much.

Sorry to hear you have a cat poop eater too. my dog doesn't have access to the cat box but she tries to get in there when she comes in from outside i just yell at her. At least mine stoped eating her own she use to as a puppy use to make me gag. Good luck.

Thats what we do too, cause Abby will eat the litter.

Okay...so our "solution" is a chain on the back of the door to the frame that will stop the door from going any further than six inches...Espresso can get in and hopefully Misty can't.

Silly Misty.
Has anything changed in her schedule lately? Is anything different going on with you? It can be that she is doing it for attention.

Nothing has really changed...and of course, with her, it's all about attention.
The chain on the door seems to have worked though, so hopefully there will be no more poop incidents!
