What would you do...
Long story short, if iui#4 doesn't work, we'll be doing ivf, but not until late summer, early fall.
My dilema is this. Should I even bother with a 5th iui until the ivf saga begins? I'm not sure if I should do this, or do I take a break, get my body in somewhat decent shape and "detox" from the fertility meds.
I have at least a cycle's worth of injectables left, but to get that bfn yet again...I don't know if I want to go thru that again. I know with ivf there are no guarantees, but with our diagonsis of MF, I think that our chances are pretty good.
I know I need to figure this out before my next cycle, which should begin next week if this iui didn't work, so any input, especially for the ladies who went from iui to ivf would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!

Re: What would you do...
I was in a similar situation.
We were needing to move to IVF, but because of the clinic cycles, we had to wait a whole cycle to do it.
They gave me the option of doing an IUI to "fill the cycle".
To me it was worth the "just in case" of maybe the IUI working.
So we did it one last time. It wound up in a chemical, but I still would do the same thing again if I had the chance.

Re: What would you do...
My answer is very different, because we had both MF and FF. It would have been virtually impossible for us to get pg with an IUI, so I did one and moved on.
It totally depends on where you are psychologically at that point. Taking a break can be very therapeutic. But, you never know when that lucky IUI might happen. Although, almost anyone I know who did get pg with an IUI did so on the first or second try.

ITA! I was moving on to IVF and got a BFP with the "fill in" IUI. I think its definitely worth a shot, especially if you're not doing IVF for at least 3-4 months.
Good luck!

Re: What would you do...
As long as your insurance covers it and you don't feel as though you need a break, although breaks can be very refreshing, do the "fill-in" IUI. It can't hurt, but definitely be prepared for a negative.

I agree with Gerty, if your insurance covers it why not?

Re: What would you do...
I was ready to give up after #4 also. DH convinced me to try #5, and we got our BFP on #5.
If you can emotionally do it, I would say do the "fill in" cycle...you have nothing to loose. However, since I've been there, I know the emtional toll this takes on your body, so if you can't do it, then take a break...it's well deserved

Re: What would you do...
I think taking a break makes a difference mentally and emotionally. I took a break before my IVF and went away for a weekend. I think it kept my mind clear.

Re: What would you do...
I personal would want a break from fertility drugs and enjoy my summer. But we also have MF and FF problems so IUI wasn't worth it for me. Good Luck in your decision!
