Anyone have them? If so with what company? Are they worth it? DH & I are looking into a 2 br timeshare probably in Orlando but we want the option to switch if we like. What are your takes? TIAChat Icon

Re: Timeshares?

We have a one bedroom one in Orlando and we've been given the opportunity to upgrage (we didn't because we just bought a house). Our timeshare is through Starwood and we got a lot of Starwood hotel points as well as the timeshareweek when we signed up.

We exchanged the timeshare for a week in Hawaii through RCI and didn't have a problem (we had to wait a little bit but, it opened up). They switched to Interval and we didn't have any problems trading our week for my ILs to go to Puerto Vallarta this year (a birthday present for them).

Re: Timeshares?

We were given a timeshare week in Aruba from IL's for engagement.

We are members of Interval International for trading purposes- we trade alot because our week is the week after thanksgiving and I'm a teacher

Re: Timeshares?

We own a week in Key West and belong to RCI.. You have to pay 125.00 within USA and 150 I believe International to trade. If you do buy definately get a red week and a gold crown resort. There are a lot of places that are really hard to go to when you want to trade. We tried to go to St Croix and RCI said well that is really hard to get and you have to deposit your week first and be put on the list then you have to be VERY flexible in when you can go away if you deposit your week and want to go somewhere very popular. Once you deposit your week you have 2 years to use it if you dont use it you lose it.. I LOVE my time share in Key West and I have NEVER traded. This year was the first year I looked into it, and I may have been better renting it taking the cash and doing something on our own..

Re: Timeshares?

We own with Disney Vacation Club and are on a points system. We trade with Interval International. So far it's been great

Re: Timeshares?

My parents have a few and had them while we were growing up. It was great because we could always go somewhere different and be in a nice condo. However, it is not an investment and they have the potential to be downgraded over time (the one they bought was originally 5* and it was downgraded). Also you have to pay maintenance fees so before you buy find out how much they are for your property. I have heard they are the highest in FL and SC. We have been looking into Fairfield which is the parent company to RCI and they were the ones who originally came up with the points system. If you buy with them you can trade free with RCI. Check out resales because you can usually get a MUCH lower price. We had spoken with timesharesonly.com in the past and they have a huge inventory. HTH, Good luck!!
